Narrative 18: 1. To heal myself, I prayed for the Light Force to turn water into medicine
I had an appointment with a German woman to give her the teachings she needed to help her with her many problems. Suddenly I felt so ill that I could not even stand up. This appointment was very important to me as it was my Mission and the work I valued most. The help I could give to this woman through my teachings would not only be limited to her, but also to her family and acquaintances.
You must not think that the teachings and spiritual advice you give to a person who needs the help of the Word will only serve to help them with their worries and concerns. In helping them, you need to look further into the work that the Light can do through them, into their family, as well as into their close circles. It is often those close to them, those who are aware of the kind and nature of their friend’s problem, and can notice any changes that take place in them.
I wasn’t just aiming at the person herself; everyone who knew her and associated with her could see the tangible change in her situation as a result of the teachings. There are some things in life where people do not need to express themselves to be understood. Those who know and associate with a person on a regular basis can easily recognize changes in behaviour when they are affected by problems or worries. As soon as there is an improvement in the person’s life or they have solved their problems, this is also noticeable in a change of attitude. Any change in the way of living is a way of silently and discreetly sending a message.
The woman was of a certain age. She was the owner of a timber business which she had operated alone since her husband died during the war. She was still sad since his passing and wanted advice that would give her the courage to continue living, in spite of his absence. She had no children; she had adopted a daughter who was her husband’s cousin.
I did not feel well, possibly because I had not eaten my lunch and had not rested, given the time of my appointment, which I wanted to keep. I didn’t want to be late: I preferred to arrive early and wait there. Since I was a child, I had learned the notion of respecting the appointed time, and in my family, I was the one who woke up the others when there was an appointment very early in the morning. I always woke up on time so that I could be there at the right time. At school I was punctual and sometimes I even arrived before everyone else, so I had to wait outside.
I was tired. I took the book I had with me and flipped through it to pass the time. When it came time to get ready for the appointment, I still wasn’t feeling well. My attending physician was on holiday away from home and I didn’t want to see another doctor who had no knowledge of my case. With a new doctor and another medical body who didn’t know me, I would have a lot of questions to ask them and they would have to explain to me how to care for me before they could do anything. It would be difficult for them and for me.
I sometimes blamed myself for over-complicating my medical situation with questions, but it was for my safety. I did not want the nurses to touch me to treat me. When the situation arose, I would politely refuse to be touched, giving explanations to clarify and justify my refusal.
By a certain age, my mother found it difficult to touch me. Even though she only wanted to do her duty, her role as a mother, I objected to her touching me; she eventually accepted and understood and left me alone. It was my brother, the one who came just before me, who sometimes could touch me when I couldn’t do something alone. I respected and enforced the modesty of my body in a certain way and I was happy to do so. My father was very supportive in this way of acting and having modesty to respect my body. My paternal grandmother was also very modest.
My doctor was away, so there was nothing I could do. I decided to do what I could with the knowledge I had gained during a previous long period of illness; I had to act. I knew that the Light Force could intervene, but that some action was needed in the material world before it could relieve me of my discomfort. I was not thinking of going to the Infirmary of the Beyond or of calling on the nurses to heal me, since that would take time. I didn’t want to be late for my appointment. I still had a bottle of water on my table; often when I finished my meal, I would drink a lot of water.
I took this water and prayed that the Light Force would turn it into a medicine that would make all these discomforts disappear by drinking it. I prayed with my eyes closed and, in the end, I drank the water, still with my eyes closed.
After a few seconds, I wanted to stand up to see if the Force of Light had done Its work. I got up slowly and calmly without feeling any discomfort. Everything was gone. I only had a few minor aches and pains, but nothing serious. I smiled because I knew that the Light Force had gone into the water and turned it into medicine to heal me. For a while, I had completely forgotten about the healing power of water transformed by the Light Force.
Whenever I went to the Infirmary in the Beyond, the nurses were sure to put water on the table beside my bed. They often drank water after they had done their work. I had asked the nurse who visited me to explain the role, place, and importance of water in their work. She gave me a clear explanation. But I had not thought to ask how and when we could use it. She told me that the Force could pass into pure drinking water, and when a sick person drank water that had been penetrated and purified by the Force of Light through prayer, Its effect was felt in the sick person’s body and his or her condition improved. Water can be transformed into a medicine by the Force of Light.
I was happy that I had finally done something for my health, which allowed me to go to this appointment that was extremely important to me because it was about helping a woman who was afflicted. I got in my car and drove there, happy to be able to help her.
It was after visiting this woman that my Guide informed me of the reason for this discomfort.
